When we went to Disneyworld Wes and I ate ice cream while Paula and the other kids went on some rides. No, Wes and I were not afraid of the rides (really). Some of the rides had certain requirements to get on the ride. Wes did not quite yet meet those height requirements. I could not put a phone book under his feet or get a chair for him to stand on. If you didn’t meet the height requirements, then you could not go on the ride. Thankfully, there were no such requirements at the ice cream stand.
God requires that you and I be perfect in order to enter heaven. If we are not perfect there is no “ice cream stand” option. There is only hell. When you read Romans 8 please take the time to marvel at the depth of God’s love for you. What he requires of you, he gives to you through the life and death of Jesus. You are now perfect. God gives you faith to make that perfection your own. Sure beats ice cream, doesn’t it?

Romans 8:1-4
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
