The seed needs to be planted. The sun needs to shine. The rain needs to fall. Enough heat and enough moisture need to be present for the seed to grow into a harvestable plant. Too much of either and the plant will not be harvestable.
As you and I live for Jesus we too aim at a harvest. We live to serve God. Our works of faith are the fruits of faith that are harvested. The gospel we share with each other and with those who do not believe produces the harvest.
Do not be mistaken about this. God produces the harvest. We share the gospel. We do not produce the harvest. God alone does that. But in his grace, he has chosen to work through us!
Remember that this harvest is different than the physical harvest. If you have too much rain or too much sun the harvest fails. In the spiritual harvest you can never have too much of what is necessary to produce a harvest. God is what produces the harvest. There is no such thing as too much God in your life. If you are living like that is a possibility, knock it off! Get back to being close to God. Let him shine into your life and warm your heart with his love!
Psalm 67 (selected verses)
May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face shine upon us;
may your ways be known on earth,
your salvation among all nations
Then the land will yield its harvest,
and God, our God, will bless us.
God will bless us,
and all the ends of the earth will fear him.
