Merge for Mission “Exploration-The First Step” Presentation at the Ponderosa in Morrison

All members from Morrison Zion and Immanuel Shirley are invited to join us Saturday, March 9 from 9-11am at the Ponderosa in Morrison for a presentation and Q & A with Pastor Joel Gaertner from WELS Congregational Services. This meeting is held off site since the research and planning for a process like this encourages large meetings to be held at a neutral location instead of one of the churches. Pastor Gaertner will present “Exploration – The First Step” and host a Q&A on the following topics:

He will talk about 

a) the challenges facing the American church in this culture and the opportunities that it presents.

b) WELS history of starting churches.

c) the mission of the Church.

d) the importance of critical mass in carrying out that mission.

e) types of mergers/consolidations: absorption, rebranding, multi-site, etc.

f) the things that can derail a merger.

g) explanation of the “Merge for Mission” process.

Households/members take home from this a “Phase 1 – Exploration discussion guide” for further study. The intention is that members use this study in their homes, and then the congregation discusses it together and then voters decide if the congregation wants to proceed to phase 2 (of 4 phases).
