Hello,
We hope you are staying warm, healthy, and connected to God’s Word. Have you been able to make time for a few family devotions? If yes, fantastic and keep it up! If not – make a plan to give it a try this week. We’ve included the link to family devotions below. Do you need a devotion that’s better suited for your teen(s) – we’ve included a link to devotions written for teens too.
Another good habit to build as a Christian family is praying together. Our God encourages us to “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:17 NIV®. What better way to teach our kids to practice this habit than to pray together?
You are probably ready to say, “we already pray the common table prayer before we eat together” – this is a great start and keep it up. But I suspect you have other things going on in your life that you could pray about than meals – maybe you have a big project at work and you want it to go well, maybe you have a friend or relative who isn’t in good health, or maybe you are thankful for a special blessing God’s placed in your life. These are all things to take to God in prayer.
Steps for Family Prayer:
1. Schedule 5 minutes – after dinner, around bedtime, or on a morning drive.
2. Go around the room and have each person pray for something important to them that day. Parents go first and set the example.
3. Your prayer doesn’t need to be long or fancy – keep it simple and share what’s on your heart.
4. Pray out loud and help your kids see how you are placing your confidence and gratitude in God.
We pray that God helps you use these resources to stay close to Christ. |
