Hand sanitizer talk and signs that remind you to wash your hands have become the norm over the last couple of years. Yes, I know they were there before, but I have certainly paid a lot more attention to clean hands lately.
Psalm 24 talks about clean hands. But these clean hands do not come from Purell. These clean hands come from the Lord. These clean hands picture someone who can stand before God in complete purity. You and I could never do that on our own. Our thoughts, words, and actions stain us with the residue of sin. The residue of sin is guilt. The wages of sin’s guilt is eternal death.
This is the nature of grace. God does not treat us as our sins deserve. The perfection he demands of us he freely gives to us in Jesus. We don’t earn it or deserve. It is a gift of God’s undeserved love. Join us as we celebrate God’s love for us in Jesus this Palm Sunday!
Psalm 24:3-5
Who may ascend the hill of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to an idol
or swear by what is false.
He will receive blessing from the LORD
and vindication from God his Savior.
