The Chosen is the first-ever multi-season television series based on the life of Christ. Morrison Zion will be watching this series for Bible Study at 9:15 am in the upstairs of church. If you are unable to join us in-person or miss a week, you will be able to find the Bible Study resources here so you can watch at home with your family.
The Chosen is NOT the Bible nor does it seek to be or replace reading and studying the Bible. The opening credits of The Chosen include the following statement that is worth noting:
The Chosen is based on the true stories of the gospels of Jesus Christ; some locations and timelines have been combined or condensed. Backstories and some characters or dialogue have been added. However, all biblical and historical content and artistic imagination are designed to support the truth and intention of the Scriptures. Viewers are encouraged to read the gospels. – Dallas Jenkins
You can find all the material and also each episode below so you can catch up if you miss a week or if you would like to watch again with your family. There is a general introduction to the TV Series below that was adapted from a introdcution written by Mark Parsons from Bread for Beggars you can find his whole write-up here. Study guides for each episode can be found below. There are 2 different discussion guides in each lesson. The first is one that I have created. It is meant to guide you through the episode giving titles for each scene as the episode progresses. There are several questions to think about as you watch, details to consider and to take note of. This guide is crafted so it doesn’t give anything away as you watch. There is a second discussion guide attached that is useful after you have watched the episode. It is more reflective and will help you think about different parts of the episode and how it relates to you and your faith. There you will also find Scriptual references for each episode.
You do not need to start with the Shepherd episode. I would encourage you to start with Episode 01 – I Have Called You By Name. Each YouTube link below will begin at the start of the corresponding episode.
