Today we had around 95 people from Morrison Zion and Immanuel Shirley at the Ponderosa for a presentation “Merge for Mission: Exploration – The First Step” presented by Pastor Joel Gaertner. We hope to set a time to watch this presentation together at Morrison in the near future.

“Exploration – The First Step” presentation included discussions on the following topics:
a) the challenges facing the American church in this culture and the opportunities that it presents.
b) WELS history of starting churches.
c) the mission of the Church.
d) the importance of critical mass in carrying out that mission.
e) types of mergers/consolidations: absorption, rebranding, multi-site, etc.
f) the things that can derail a merger.
g) explanation of the “Merge for Mission” process.
