Call Waiting

I am not a fan of call waiting. It is on my cell phone and more often than not it confuses me. I try to answer and lose the person to whom I was talking. I really do not have a use for this option. I feel no need to find where I stored the manual to my phone. I have just decided to ignore it from now on. Leave me a message, because I have given up on figuring out call waiting.

Just one more reason why it is a good thing I am not God. He does not need call waiting.  He can handle all the calls at the same time. That is one of the cool things about being God. He is the original multi-tasker. Yet think of how often we don’t even get around to calling. We convince our self the person we were rude to deserved it. They were a jerk first after all. Why call God to repent?

When things are going well we often are too busy thanking our self to stop and thank God. We are so full of our self that there is no room to stop and thank God.

What is God’s response? He waits patiently until we wise up. He waits and send fellow Christians to point us to the truth of who God is and what he has done for us. He rebukes us with his law and then assures of forgiveness through the life and death of Christ. He did not ditch the use of absolution in our lives just because he got tired of waiting for us to figure it out. Isn’t that amazing!

So call up God and thank and praise him for the grace he poured out on you in your life. Better yet, also praise him by telling others about how important he is to you and the amazing things he has done for you. After all, praise and proclaiming the wonders of God go hand in hand in Scripture.

Psalm 65

Praise awaits you, O God

you call forth songs of joy
